Douche baggery

I'm glad I'm not the only one out there that thinks the douche baggery has gone to an all time low.

The Armstrong shove

Surprised I didn't see this photo spread all over the web. Photo by Tim De Waele. Armstrong said the guy was causing a hazard. There are 3 or 4 photos in the sequence with the guy ending up in a snow bank.

You gotta love DZ

“I truly believe I can manipulate the earth’s forces and use them to my advantage,” he said.

I mean come on, who doesn't think that!

WTF! IHTW

I got off work early Friday so went out to enjoy the sun before picking up Mia. I knew I should have tacked on another hour or two since I woke to snow this am. Supposed to hit the dirt roads of Polk county this AM but looks like a slight postponement might be in order.

Friday 1:30pm

Saturday 7:00am. I Hate The Weather!

I think it might be time to retire my Sidi Dominators circa 1994. With a new pair of Sidi Dragons circa 2009. Though I think Amber may flinch at the $500 price tag. If I get the same life out of them it works out to $33 a year. Not too bad.

We're kid-less this weekend to go to the Pub Crawl to help the Ding Dong the sister in law celebrate her 21st. Actually it was Thursday & I think shes still hung over. LOL to be 21.

FTP testing

Last season I didn't do any FTP testing. I based my wattage numbers on the results of my 40k TT in Arkansas. Not smart but gave me a good baseline to work from. This year I've decided to test more often to see my actual progress. So far so good. Test in January was right at my old FTP so started back at where I was at mid summer. Test this week was a big improvement. Probably where I was at mid cross season.

I started out too hard in the January test which I did on my cx bike on the trainer. February's test was on the TT bike on the trainer. I think for now I'll retest once a month. Come this summer maybe every two or three weeks as I get closer to State TT. I'm also going to play around with several different testing methods to see how close the results are.

Indoor Cycling

Oh if the SPR had one of these. Indoor Training would take on a whole new meaning. Stick a climbing wall or half pipe in the middle & you'd have a true multi-purpose venue.

Sunday part 2

Had a hard tempo day on tap for the day's ride. Put the Kenda Kwik 700x30C for some Frisco Trail Wattage time. Soft conditions, a strong wind & a rear tire that was going soft(found this out when I about stack it in a turn) saw me go mushroom cloud at the end. I'm now averaging about a flat a week for 2009.

Wish I could have seen the wall of water that deposited the limbs up there. That's about 10 feet of the water surface.

Sunday Part 1

Sunday AM Mia & I got up to watch the GVA Trofee race live feed on the Intraweb. Coffee, blueberry pancakes, Monopoly "dollars" & muddy cx.

Nys won by a mile.

Pics

Warm enough in February for shorts? No razor rule in the winter is in effect regardless of global warming.

Another North Side long carless farm road. Smooth as butter pavement.

Halltown to Center

Season one TIAA-CREF hat today.

NRA hot spot.

I'll be shocked if this thing ever floats.

Dogs still love me.

Thug

My kid is a thug. She is trust me. I've seen her throw right crosses that would lay out Tyson. I guess it comes from being twice as big as kids her age. Yesterday @ daycare she put another thug(according to their teacher) in his place. She bit the hell out of him. I can't help but laughing since she told me she did it because he stole her socks & shoes. How he did this without her ever taking them off a 2.5 year old's mind will only understand. Of course this isn't really funny because she got sent home with the official State note saying my kid had bit another kid. Pay backs for when Mia got bit in daycare.

Flight of the Phenix

Another descent day so rolled out for a few hours before the SuperBowl. Decided the Phenix loop would be a good ride today.

Rocking the Team USA hat in honor of World's Day. Also Sporting the Ear Grips. Very nice to keep your ear holes warm & cuts down on wind noise for the ear buds.

Phenix Quarry

A lot of frozen water in a big ass hole.

The beauty of living on the North side of the SPR is the solitude of kilometers & kilometers of empty smooth farm roads. Rolled the last few kilometers with Ken Norton. He was out for a solo training ride. He's pretty psyched about his Jr. Team. Not so psyched about his long list of injuries he suffered last season.

Fender Days

I'm sitting here multi tasking. Mia & I are watching CX Worlds on Sporza, drinking coffee(me not her) & blogging. Worlds is a race! Alberts was counted out by everyone. Took off on the 3rd lap & hasn't looked back. I had him picked at 3rd. Showed me & the world.

Mia playing in the snow

She was waiting for me after work.

Put the fenders on & got outside for a ride yesterday. A little climbing.

SKS Fenders are the shit!

Random barn with weird symbol on the top of it.

Subtle reminder its still January.

Old barn & some cows.

Deer! A lot of deer.

You'll have to take my word that this is a pic of a flock of 50+ turkey. I was jamming to the XM & about shit myself when I thought someone was firing a machine gun at me. Not fast enough on the draw.
