33 days till CX

The new camera broke @ the Dave show so you'll have to bear with the cell pics for now. With cross rapidly closing in, the next few weekends will be spent catching up projects on the home front so I can go a racing on a weekly basis. As Amber reminded me this weekend we've lived on Brecklyn now for 3 years & every year we've undertaken a major home project. This weekend we had had enough of the crap carpet in our house so out it went.
We made a trip to the Lowe's. Low & behold they actually had the same laminate that is in our kitchen. This made the project scale a lot littler thank god. In the back of my mind I thought I was going to have to redo the kitchen & the living room. Now its just the living room(this weekend anyway).

A little on Saturday & a little on Sunday & Mia is enjoying here new sliding floor. I am a lot worse for the wear though. I can hardly walk today I'm so sore. Getting old is rough. My back aches, my legs ache, my ass aches....Thank god for liquid aspirin Sunday night.

For some reason we can't figure out Mia decided Desitin is for her face.

Fiscal responsibility. Cut everything but your salary. Oh wait they did offer him $5k less than he wanted.

"We wanted to come in under $200,000 just because of the financial straits the city is facing," said Councilman Doug Burlison.

He acknowledged he was "catching some heat" from some citizens over the $195,000.

"The truth of it is, if you want to pay $140,000 to $160,000 you'll get what you pay for," Burlison said. "You won't get someone who'll be able to face the kind of challenges we have and succeed with them."

38 days till CX season

I don't get this @ all. How does CU project that people are going to use mass transit less next year? Wishful thinking? I'd like to see the numbers on how many people ride to work in the metro area.

Their Budget.
Yet they need to raise our gas rates which is no surprise. Gotta pay for those consultants somehow.

40 days till CX season

Went to KC for a 3 day training camp with my Slimen team mate Kyle. Consistent boner moves got me 14th, 17th, 17th. Friday was a great course, super technical, my kind of crit course. I muffed up the sprint a bit but got complimented on my cornering after the race. Pure cross skills & the ability to turn off your brain.Saturday was epic! Rain, mud, slick roads, switchbacks, power climbs. Pure cross. I was pretty stoked that cross came a little early. Set myself up perfect in 10th just before the climb. Got swarmed @ the turn before the climb. panicked a little & tried to compensate by going up in my big ring. Boner move on my behalf, very cat 5. Sunday went ok, not really a course for me @ this time in my season when everyone else has been killing it in crits all season & I'm just in my April. I was bridging up to the break that stayed away. Saw that me & the guy I was trying to bridge with were being caught so sat up thinking the break would be caught too. Nope been there, done that should have known better than to sit up before actually being caught. Should have kept drilling it & caught the break. Another boner move. Did feel fine all day after 3 days of racing. The numbers showed 23x over 950watts, with 9 of those being over a 1000 watts. Not too shabby for a skinny old man after 3 days of racing.

Crap its sneaking up on me. I'm already behind on my training & putting my CX bike back together. This week isn't helping much since we're starting work @ 4:30AM to beat the heat. We have some deal with the Electric CO-OP that when the temp puts the electric into high demand they call us & we shut the plant down @ 3:00PM. I mean shut the plant down, turn everything off, throw the mains, & get the heck out of the building. So I have to be here at 4AM to throw the mains back on & make sure everything is going to start back up. Needless to say I'm not riding to work this week since I'd have to leave @ 2AM.

Luckily it looks like this little heat wave might be over so maybe I can get back on track. Going to head to KC this weekend to try & get some quality race training in. I hadn't planned on going, but with the cooler weather predicted, & with the little bit of form I had @ the OCC crits, I figured I'd better build on it with 3 days of hard racing. Then its a mad dash to cross.

Dave show was good rest of the weekend pretty much sucked. Sometimes I wonder if I am psychic & if I am why can't I ever use that ability to win the lottery.
